Japanese Festival Drumming in Alabama!

Taiko Classes in Chambers County Alabama!

Taiko classes are being offered in Lanett, Alabama sponsored at the Chambers County Taiko Dojo located at 1157 Phillips Road, Lanett.

Taiko (Tie-ko), the ancient and exciting art of Japanese festival drumming is now being taught in the Chattahoochee Valley! Taiko is an ancient art and a modern art at the same time. It has evolved over a period of 2000+ years into an exciting cross between a non-violent martial art and drum playing. Taiko is played on very large drums, which are usually made from 60 gallon wine or whiskey barrels.

Taiko is as aerobic as it is entertaining. Dancing, twisting and pounding in unison, Taiko players thrill audiences, work off pounds and develop skill and coordination all at the same time. Playing a combination of ancient Asian traditional songs and modern compositions brings a sense of unity with distant lands and cultures. And with the entrance of KIA into our lives, we all are developing interest in the diverse cultures of Asia.

Intensive two day classes are offered any time there is sufficient interest. If you wish to enroll, please contace Sensei Clark to get on the list.
